SMITH FOUNDATION

The Gallery is open Wednesdays - Saturdays from noon to 5:00 p.m. The Gallery is closed on the weekends of Statutory Holidays.
Masterful Mixed Media
Masterful Mixed Media is an exploration of materials, ideas and techniques across a variety of mediums. Children will learn about the Elements of Art through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture. It is a fun, creative environment designed to allow a child’s natural creativity and curiousity to shine through their art.

Brumecheadshot.jpgSuzanne Brumec has been surrounded by art and artists her entire life. The medium she loves most is clay and she has studied ceramics both in college and university. She also enjoys acrylic painting and drawing with chalk pastels. The natural world inspires her: the way light reflects, or casts shadows, the infinite colours , patterns and textures.

When Mrs. Brumec teaches art, one of her goals is to get her students to look at the world with an artistic eye, to help them notice things like pattern and repetition and colour in a new way, and then help them transfer what they see into a creation all their own.

butterfield.jpeg Jennifer Butterfield teaches Grades 2 and 3 at Cove Cliff Elementary in Deep Cove.  She earned a degree in Art History at UBC and has worked in the field of Interior Design.

Her favourite aspect of education is teaching art to children.  While working at Sherwood Park Elementary, Jennifer taught art to Grades K-7.  With the participation of every child in the school, she also created a mural depicting the local history of the Dollarton area of North Vancouver.  In her free time, she enjoys travelling, visiting galleries and museums, being inspired by nature, learning new art techniques, and Hawaiian quilting.
