Takao Tanabe
Takao Tanabe was born in Prince Rupert, BC in 1926. He studied at the Winnipeg School of Art and later in New York, London and Japan. Tak Tanabe is one of Canada’s foremost senior artists, best known as a landscape painter depicting the prairies and coastal regions of BC. He is also a stellar and adventurous print maker. He was awarded the Order of Canada for his contribution to Canadian culture and was the recipient of the Governor General’s Award for Visual Art in 2002. His work can found in major collections in Canada, the United States and abroad. He currently lives in Parksville, BC.​
