Fine Arts Scholarships

Artists for Kids is pleased to announce a number of scholarship opportunities.  

Scholarship applications are now closed for this school year

We will be re-opening scholarship applications in 2019. Please check back then.

2018 Scholarship information 

Scholarships are available to graduating secondary school students who have demonstrated excellence in the Visual Arts and are planning to continue their education in the Visual Arts. (visual arts include traditional media as well as photographic and digital media). Applications will be judged competitively by experienced arts educators on the quality of individual portfolio submissions. We regret that at this time international students are not eligible. Applications and supporting material will be evaluated on:

  • artistic ability, achievements and personal objectives in the arts
  • caliber of the work in comparison to other students at the same level of study in the same discipline
  • the quality of the presentation for this application

DEADLINE: 4:00 pm Friday April 13, 2018

Students may apply for more than one scholarship, but an individual application form must be submitted for each. (One portfolio can be submitted for multiple applications.) 

Please pay special attention to specific requirements for each scholarship. 

Note that all applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants. 

Successful scholarship candidates will be notified by telephone. Others will be notified by email.

Portfolios must be picked up by 4:00 pm Thursday, April 26, 2018


Gordon and Marion Smith Foundation for Young Artists Scholarships

Three scholarships of $2500 are provided to outstanding young artists pursuing post-secondary art education.

Artists for Kids

AFK is proud to offer scholarships of $1,000 to outstanding young artists pursuing post-secondary art education. 

North Shore Community Foundation funds the $1,000 Outstanding Visual Artist Award and Artists for Kids fund the $1,000 Robert Bateman Future Teacher Award and the Jack Shadbolt Multiple Arts Excellence Award.
